Meet Miss India 2019 winner: Suman Rao

Suman Rao, Miss India Rajasthan was crowned the winner of Femina Miss India World 2019 during a star-studded grand finale of the beauty pageant, held on June 15, 2019 at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Indoor Stadium in Mumbai. Miss India 2019 winner Rao was crowned Miss India World 2019 by her predecessor, Miss India 2018 Anukreethy Vas from Tamil Nadu.

While Shivani Jadhav from Chhattisgarh was crowned Femina Miss Grand India 2019, Shreya Shanker from Bihar won the Miss India United Continents 2019 title.

 

Miss India 2019 Winner Suman Rao: Who is Suman Rao? 

Suman Rao is the 56th Miss India. Born on November 23, 1999 in Rajsamand, Rajasthan, Rao has been majorly brought up in Mumbai. 

The 20-year-old finished her schooling from Mahatma Education Society in Navi Mumbai and currently, she is pursuing Chartered Accountancy course along with B.Com from New Delhi.

Besides her love for modeling, Rao also loves to dance and has special inclination towards the classical dance form Kathak. She is a trained Kathak dancer. Rao has set high goals for herself as far as modeling is concerned.

Suman Rao represented the state of Rajasthan at the Femina Miss India 2019 pageant. Besides winning the coveted Miss India World title, Rao also won the 'Miss Rampwalk' award during Miss India 2019 sub-contests.

Rao will now represent India at the Miss World 2019 pageant to be hosted in Pattaya, Bangkok on December 7, 2019.

 

Background

The Femina Miss India 2019 beauty pageant was held in Mumbai on June 15. The event was hosted by popular producer-director Karan Johar and actor Manish Paul. 

The judges' panel included renowned names such as Miss World 2018 Vanessa Poncedel, Indian designers Falguni and Shane Peacock, sprinter Dutee Chand, actor Aayush Sharma, footballer Sunil Chhetri, actor Chitrangda, actor Huma Qureshi and choreographer Remo Dsouza.

The event saw grand performances by Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal, Mouni Roy and Nora Fatehi.

While Suman won Miss India, Shivani Jadhav from Chhattisgarh was crowned as Femina Miss Grand India 2019 and Shreya Shanker from Bihar won the title of Miss India United Continents 2019. 

Sanjana Vij was sashed Femina Miss India 2019 runner-up.
